For your child, joining our Dharma School provides great opportunities to meet families and make friends and allow them to learn the teachings of Buddhism in an interactive format. The Mission of the Tacoma Buddhist Temple’s Dharma School provides students
with:
-
A way to understand Jodo Shinshu teachings in a meaningful and joyful way.
-
Gives opportunities to experience and practice these teachings in everyday life.
-
An appealing and nurturing environment for students to gain acceptance withinthe temple community.
We build our Buddhist community through in-person, activity-oriented classes and when we can’t, we improvise! Each class is roughly 30 minutes on Sunday mornings, led by one of our Dharma School teachers with oversight from Rev. Koyama and our Superintendents. Rev. Koyama begins each class with a short message and then students gather by age group and attend Sunday school workshops. Temple teachers stay connected with families to ensure students enjoy their learning and support students in many ways.
